US Drone Strike Reportedly Kills High-Ranking ISIS Leader — Pentagon
Shortly after they were reportedly approached by Russian jets in Syria last Friday, three MQ-9 Reaper drones were responsible for taking out IS leader Usamah al-Muhajir, according to the US Department of Defense.
The DoD source didn’t confirm how the military were able to ascertain the identity of the target wiped out in the northeast of the country, but claimed there was “no evidence” any civilians were affected despite reports indicating one had been injured.
Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, head of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, last week branded the US drone exercises as “systematic violations of protocols” designed to avoid clashes with the Russian and Syrian coalition.
